We are excited to announce that the Masconomet School Committee has approved the start of Phase 2 of the Turf Up project. This phase is inclusive of raising funds that will be used to conduct a feasibility study on the long term costs and maintenance of the fields and a comprehensive market analysis.
The turf plan is inclusive of 2.5 multi-sport fields located at the High School and additional new features and upgrades:
1 field within current stadium
1.5 fields on the right side of high school
Six pole lighting system, retaining wall and necessary fencing
New field house with bathrooms, concessions, storage and a press box
Addition of bathrooms to the existing concession stand/press box
Resurfacing of existing track
The cost of this project is $5.1 Million.
An initial feasibility study was completed and we have already received support and donations from Masco Field Hockey, Masco Soccer Boosters, Masco Youth Football, Tribal Lacrosse, Topsfield Athletic Association, Boxford Athletic Associations and private donors.
The hope is that we will raise enough money to present this completed project to the High School as a gift. We are now reaching out to you – the broader Tri-Town individual constituency, remaining Masco Boosters and town clubs and organizations. We hope to reach our Phase 2 Goal of $30,000 by the end of April 2018.
Provide our student athletes a uniform and consistent playing surface
Allow for more playing and practice time (fields can be used daily and in all types of weather without the risk of damage)
Provide a resilient under layer, essentially a shock pad, under the sports surface which is an important component in concussion mitigation and management
Allow for availability and access to countless youth organizations who constantly face weather-related issues in the Spring & Fall
Serve as a revenue stream for the high school from private club and camp rentals
The Turf Up Masco Committee runs under Masco Youth Football’s 501(c)(3) – a tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Please consult your tax advisor. You will receive a written acknowledgement of your donation.
